The Failure of Naziism
Perhaps needless to say, Naziism failed after taking a horrific toll in human life. And yet this is not the fullest extent of their utter failure, something only now coming to fruition. The experience of naziism scarred europe to the point that to many european civilization was no longer worth fighting for, and was in fact the root of the world's many evils.
And yet this is a deep fallacy in light of the increasing clash of cultures which is coming to define the world. In the face of the evil of militant islam many europeans are left repeating adolescent assaults on european civilization and feeling that europe deserves whatever it gets in retribution for its sins. To call this shortsighted is laughably insufficient, but it goes beyond that. Despite its sins, European Civilization is not only the last best home of mankind - it has always been the only hope of mankind, in a sea of intellectual desolation marked by fear and death on all sides. To somehow feel that european civilization has rightfully dug its own grave is perverse circular logic. To paraphrase O.W. Holmes Jr., our morals are not a suicide pact.
