Why Newegg is Great

As I indicated earlier, I was really impressed with how Newegg handled a bad rebate situation. Here's the reason why:

I sent my rebate for the VID CAPT KYWRD|DVD PCI VS-L883D R (Serial#: XXXXXXXXXXXX) on 11/16/05, shortly after receiving the card. However, I have not received my rebate yet, and WAY more than the stated 12-14 weeks ave passed. Attempts at contacting Kworld have been unsuccessful. I would like a refund of the rebate amount, $24.99.

Dear Customer,

Thanks for contacting Newegg.

We apologize for this inconvenience. Please simply disregard the rebate from the manufacturer; instead, we would like to refund the $ 25.00 credit back onto your original Visa card as a token of this lost rebate claim. We have already issued this $ 25.00 credit onto your Visa card. Please allow approximately 3-5 business days to fully process the transaction and make the funds available. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Thank you,
Ian Lei

Problem Rebates

It's not too often that I post problems with rebates, because I don't have many. However, I finally got around to tracking some down, and here's the status:

1) After my KWORLD Video Magician order was cancelled by Buy.com, Newegg.com had a similar offer, but with much less risk - they were only charging $27 and it came with a $25 MIR. However, the rebate never came. I complained, tonight, to Newegg, and they already sent me an email stating that they're crediting me the $25!

2) On 11/6/05, a week before I bought the video card above, I ordered a family tree program from Amazon, which was free after a $10 rebate. The primary purpose of ordering it was to get free shipping on something I was ordering that was not over $25 itself. But again, the rebate never came. This rebate did allow for online status checking, and when I checked tonight, it shows that it was mailed two days ago. Late, but that's better than never.

3) Back in August of 2004 I was in a KB Toys outlet. They had a package of 20 AAA batteries for $5, with a $5 rebate. The rebate never came, and for some reason I never pursued it in the past. So I sent an email off to KB Toys to complain. The rebate form did have a phone number, which I'll call tomorrow.

4-5) There are two rebates from the Sandisk Cruzer deal that I don't seem to have received. While I did receive both rebates from Sandisk, I have not yet received either of the rebates from CC. I fired off a quick email to them as well.

Finally, I've gotten around to updating my rebate meter. I'm pretty darn close to 300 rebates! Unfortunately, between being much busier and less in need of 'stuff,' I've been ordering a lot less lately.

More $10 off $40 Staples Coupons

These may be a little less legit, but they're the same basic coupon than the ones from a little while ago:

HTDT: Ebay Instant Delivery Auctions

First, for those of you wondering what HTDT stands for, it's "How'd They Do That."

Second, for those of you wondering how people on Ebay can offer instant delivery of things like coupon codes, the answer is not that they sit at their computer 24/7. Rather, they use tools like CN-USA.
