Baby Furniture

The baby furniture we ordered, quite some time ago, finally arrived about a week ago. The store scheduled delivery for "after 11 am" on Thursday. They showed up after 6 pm. As they unpacked the dresser, I admired the beautiful natural color of the wood, then remembered that we had ordered the furniture with a dark stain. Upon commenting on this discrepancy, the furniture guy checked his paperwork and realized he brought the wrong box. They repacked the dresser, and promised to return on Monday. They also left their drill behind.

On Friday, they called and offered to deliver the dresser Saturday night. I didn't believe them for a minute, but my wife was hopeful. Surprise, surprise, they never showed. A quick call on Sunday granted us a minimal apology, and a promise of delivery between 11-1.

They did actually show during the scheduled time, and even brought the right furniture, but didn't have a hammer, so they had to borrow mine.

While this seems bad, they weren't as bad as the ghetto movers my friend hired to move our couch (which we were giving to him to make room for the baby furniture) from out apartment to his. They came with no tools, and asked to borrow a screwdriver, in order to remove the feet from the couch, to ease the transfer of it. I lent them a screwdriver, and they succeeded in removing the feet, while mangling them in the process.

I later heard from my friend that things were a little different on his end. When they arrived, they still had no tools, and needed a hammer to force the feet back into the couch. Lacking one, they chose to use a grate from the range. In the process of banging in the feet, they bent the grate out of shape. My friend's fiancé was less than pleased.

I see my story made headlines :). I'll be sure to show it to the soon to be Mrs. (although for ghetto movers, they did cover up the couch in nice plastic protective wrap - I was minimally impressed with that - they also almost broke the elevator ceiling trying to get the couch into it but then they gave up and took it the one flight up - but all in all, the grate now seems ok after he bent it back into shape and the elevator still seems fine).

Oh and the couch is lovely of course - Thanks again to FatWallach Jr. for needing the space (although we're going to have to find a good bed board for the pull out part of the couch if we ever want guests to stay over but then again that could just be a good excuse not to have any sleepover guests).

Bed board? Why?

Hello,

Wow, this is a great post. Thank you for taking the time to pen it…
