Price Mistake of the Year
It's that time again! Though the vacuum deal fell through, my sadness would be swept away if this one comes through. Imagine finding a Toshiba Tecra M1 9300 (Pentium M 1.6GHz Centrino, 512 GB RAM, 60 GB HD, CD-RW/DVD, etc), which has a retail price of $2,949.00 for $1! That's right, $1!!! Needless to say, I paid for overnight shipping ($45), and kindly thanked Shaya for spreading the news! We both held our tongues (fingers?) and resisted any urge to post on FW.
It proved relatively unnecessary to post on FW, because by the time we were done ordering, the price had been fixed online. There is, however, that slim chance our orders will make it through....
UPDATE (11:24 am): My credit card shows temporary authorizations for the orders. Website status has changed from "Expedite CC Auth" to "Expedite Address Ver."
UPDATE (11:30 am): Shaya got a call from PC Nation, offering to combine his two orders to save him money on shipping! He declined ("orders must be billed separately"), trying to avoid any risks.
UPDATE (11:32 am): Shaya reports that PC Nation called back (he ignored the call), and they left a message, canceling both of his orders. :(
UPDATE (11:42 am): Online status shows my second order is "Canceled," but the first is still alive.
UPDATE (11:46 am): The phone just rang, and I was told that it was a price mistake. PC Nation offered it to me for $2500, which is substantially lower than the (new) online price, but still a bit much. I don't know which order he was calling about, because my first order still has a status of "Expedite Address Ver."
UPDATE (12:49 pm): Outlook Express just popped up - I've got mail! It was an order confirmation for my first order. A good sign? Website status is still "Expedite Address Ver."
UPDATE (12:59 pm): Website status for my remaining order just changed to "Canceled." :(
UPDATE (3:16 pm): Arnie from PC Nation left a message on my voicemail, informing me of the (second) cancellation, blaming the computers for the price mistake, but again offering the computer at $2500, their cost.

Better luck next time.
